This is a time of great excitement and opportunity for our school! Our school administration is dedicated to making the Dr. Lewis S. Libby School a positive and safe learning community for all students, staff, parents, and the entire community.  We believe this will be a time to open our minds to the possibilities of what could be, forget a bit of what has been and then get our hands and feet moving together to work on making the dreams of our school become a reality.

As you read through the handbook this year you will notice that there are many changes within it.  If you have any questions about those changes we ask that you call us so we can clarify what the new policies mean and how we intend to implement and enforce them.

Our number one goal is to make this school the safest place it can be for our students, staff, and community.  We want our students to feel safe so they can dare to be who they really are and to take risks and challenges that they might not take otherwise.  We want to involve our parents and the community so they understand that any success we will have would not be possible without their active involvement.  Finally, we endeavor to develop our staff into a a highly interdependent, professional learning community where continuous improvement, standards-based educational practices, and community outreach are the pillars on which we interact with each other, our students, and the Milford community at large.

The community of Milford is fortunate to have such a committed group of educators serving their children. The first days of school have been exciting for sure!  The school administration is working hard to meet all of the students and work with them, so we can better fulfill their educational and developmental needs. Our commitment to you is to always work toward making our school the best K-8 public school in the State of Maine.  We won’t settle for less and we look with anticipation to partner with all of you to make this become a reality!

Again, we welcome you to contact us by stopping by and saying hello, giving us a call at (207) 827-2252, or emailing me at either tleonard@union90.org or jcyr@union90.org.  The winds of change are in the air!  It is truly an exciting time!

Respectfully submitted,

Mr. Thomas R. Leonard                                           Ms. Jen Weston
