Reorganization Planning Committee

Formation

As part of the School Consolidation law, school units required to create a Regional School Unit (RSU) must form a Reorganization Planning Committee (RPC). School Boards are responsible for leading the formation of these RPCs.

The law states that the RPCs shall consist of representatives from the school board, municipality, and members from the general public. It was suggested to towns that two representatives be selected from each group.

To form the Milford RPC, the School Committee selected two members from the School Committee and the Selecmen chose two municipal members. After contacting several members of the public, two citizen members eventually agreed to serve on the committee.

Committee Members

The Milford Reorganization Planning Committee consists of the following members:

Scott Hayden - School Committee Representative

  • Regional School Unit 16 Co-Chair
  • Serving on the Governance Sub-Committee

Ann Goodwin - School Committee Representative

  • Serving on the Governance Subcommittee

Scott Libby - Municipality Representative

  • Serving on the Property Sub-Committee

Diane Lacadie - Municipality Representative

Todd Saucier - Citizen Representative

  • Serving on the Finance Sub-Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the Milford Reorganization Planning Committee (RPC) is to engage in planning and negociations with other RPC's for the purpose of developing a reorganization plan to form a new Regional School Unit (RSU) that meets the requirement of the new law. RPC meetings are open to the public and we encourage Milford citizens to attend.

The Milford RPC, as an advisory committee to the Milford School Committee, will work very closely with the Milford School Committee while developing the plan. Together these groups will solicit critical information and feedback from the community throughout the proceess. By law the Milford School Committee is responsible for submitting the reorganization plan to the Commissioner of Education.

Communication

The Milford RPC and Milford School Committee will make every effort to keep the public informed. As previously mentioned, the RPC meetings are open to the public. In addition, all RPC meeting dates will be posted at the Meeting Information link. Minutes of past meetings will be posted on the first page of the School Consolidation link. Updates of the process can be found at the School Consolidation Update link.

It is anticpated that the RPC and School Committee will hold several special meetings once we begin to learn more about our possible options. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Superintendent or Board Chair. In addition, the School Committee will be discussing the reorganization progress at each monthly school committee meeting. We welcome you to attend the monthly School Committee meeting and join in the discussion.
